Hello there!
I’m Jodie, the main dealer here at Bygone Adornments. 👋
I have been working in the vintage and antiques industry professionally for the last 15 years, although my passion for antiques developed in childhood, which thinking back was quite surprising considering none of my family worked in the industry or had any knowledge of antiques.
My Dad was a lorry driver and my Mum a civil servant. So, I had no exposure to antiques of any kind. I was just naturally drawn to the craftsmanship and history of items from a bygone time.
When I was 9, I remember visiting the church fête and from a table full of dolls, toys and sparkly things, I chose myself a Victorian Scottish powder horn. I didn’t know then what it was, but I was fascinated with the treasure I’d just discovered. Unfortunately, the powder horn didn’t stay with me for long and was lost on the way home when I became distracted by building a den with friends, but the memory at least is still with me.
Fast-forward a few decades later and here I am blessed to be working with these beautiful and interesting objects on a daily basis.
I’m personally attracted to the history itself and the idea that an object has had its own life and lived through a time that many of us can only imagine.
These objects are as close as we can get to the our past.
It has been very hard to specialise in any one particular subject as there are just so many to choose from, but if I had to pick my favourites they would be jewellery, ceramics and anything animal themed, although, I have general knowledge of all the categories of items I source and sell.
We have an established eBay business store, with 100% positive feedback that has been running for many years with many happy returning customers.
The creation of our own website was a natural progression, but we will be keeping our eBay store for now and have different stock available on each.
Our website is only currently set up for UK shipping. Should you be an international buyer with your heart set on purchasing an item, please get in touch via the Contact page and we can pop the item on eBay for you to be sent via eBay’s Global Shipping.
I also restore an upholster furniture when time allows. These pieces are available via our Vinterior shop.
